Sony's Tokyo Game Show press conference was a total bust. Reports say that it was less eventful than E3.

Their only big announcement was a Virtual Console-like service.

You can download and stream games like in the Wii.
From The-Magicbox.com:
- Ken Kutaragi also mentioned PlayStation 3 will be able to download and playback classic 16-bit Mega Drive (Genesis) and PC-Engine (Turbografx) titles, it is also possible to play a small fee to play certain time-limited game demos.

Also, heres what PS3 game boxes will look like in person.

Your cube ended up like that because you had a ps2. the ps3 is too expensive, and your not too interested in the 360. Thusly, the wii is probably the only thing that will entertain you. This is all my own educated assumption, though.
