Evolution: Full of holes and only relies on fact's that haven't been discovered yet, never will be discovered, or don't even exist to fill those holes.
Christianity: Full of holes and relies on faith to fill them.
wow. evolution doesn't have any "holes", and they don't rely on nonexistant facts. wow.. just .. wow.
My thoughts exactly, there are a million bajillion books of research and facts on evolution, while there is one, the Bible, on poof here we are (and probably most other books dealing with it quote the bible so it is the same dealeo).
BUT, I'm guessing Richard posted that on purpose to provoke a flame war, because he is a 4chan junkie and loves that stuff. So don't fall into his juvenile trap.

Going to church gives me hope, Believing there is more to life than going to school getting a job and dieing is the only thing that kept me from blowing my brains out in middle school , and remain pure has led me into a wonderful relationship. If you can live as a Nihilist you are either much stronger or much weaker than me.

so i've been reading the bible a bit and i'm struggling spiritually and so far i have only come to the conclusion that no matter how/what i think of evolution or creation, i just want to punch babies.

haha yeah, how is atheism nihilism? they are not synonyms!
just because I don't believe in a higher power it doesn't mean I don't give a shiit about anything. I'm not cruising through life with rudderless apathy and screaming, "NOTHING MATTERS!"
no god doesn't mean nothing matters. it means I have to make my own meaning, I have to be responsible for my own actions and live my life to it's fullest. Human beings are condemned to be free.
as jean paul sarte says, "existentialism is not so atheistic as to need to continually prove that god doesn't exist, we simply state that even if he did exist, it would not matter" basically- i'm an atheist, if there would be a god I wouldn't care not because i'm a nihilist, but because it doesn't affect me- it's not the problem, or the solution or any of that.
but seriously, I don't believe in god.
and evolution is also natural selection- weaker traits die off and the ones that continue our existance strengthen or remain. adaptation is PART of evolution.
here's the sartre quote I spoke of: Existentialism is nothing less than an attempt to draw all the consequences of a coherent atheistic position. It isn't trying to plunge man into despair at all. But if one calls every attitude of unbelief despair, like the Christians, then the word is not being used in its original sense. Existentialism isn't so atheistic that it wears itself out showing that God doesn't exist. Rather, it declares that even if God did exist, that would change nothing. There you've got our point of view. Not that we believe that God exists, but we think that the problem of His existence is not the issue. In this sense, existentialism is optimistic, a doctrine of action, and it is plain dishonesty for Christians to make no distinction between their own despair and ours and then to call us despairing.
Listen to dust in the wind by Kansas. That is what it would be like if there was no God or afterlife. Everything will be destroyed anyway, so if you don't believe in the after life or that some eternal being will remember what we did after everything is over. Even if you make your own purpose it will then be obliterated when you and every one who knew you is dead. No all atheist believe in evolution, but one thing all atheist have in common is that they believe that when you die you rot in the ground and that is it. All you accomplishments to better humanity will not matter when humanity is gone. Even if atheist do think their finding their own purpose their purpose wont matter when all purpose is gone forever which is inevitable with out an afterlife or remembrance by an unending unforgetting being.
I think that is pretty dam n close to nihilism.
